Our Mission:
Publishing warm, family-centered children’s books that celebrate culture, heritage, and meaningful traditions.
Who we are
Our name
Our name comes from a special place. The ladybug is a symbol our family associated with our niece Mia, whose middle name (Nalani) means “heaven” or “cielo” in Spanish. Mia was born with Trisomy-18 in 2006. She surprised medical experts with her spunky attitude and will to continue living.
Additionally, our father, Alfredo, was a pastor for many decades. Among his greatest gifts were his smile and storytelling. When he retired, he became her primary babysitter while her parents worked, and she followed him to heaven 9 months after his passing in 2016.
We honor Mia and Alfredo’s memory in our hearts and in our name. Providing children with the ability to read is our eternal gift to Mia and Alfredo.
A portion of our profits is donated to the Trisomy-18 Foundation in honor of our ladybug in heaven.
